You should also try SSuite Office for a free office suite. They have a whole range of office suites that are free for download.

Their software also don't need to run on Java or .NET, like so many open source office suites, so it makes their software very small and efficient.

You may try these links:

Feels like a slightly gratuitous reference to me in this post, but I'll let you off :-)

From my perspective (speaking as an individual and user of software, not for IBM) IBM SWG has always been very cross-platform, and it has been nice to see an increasing focus on cross-platform desktops and capability. Personally I use Linux, Mac and Windows at work for different tasks, and can use all of the productivity tools I need (IBM and non-IBM) across that full range. Yes, it may look like it has taken a while, but I remember the Linux desktop in 1999 - before I was at IBM myself - compared to what is available now, and I'm not convinced that it would have been a comfortable user experience. Right now, I'm happy recommending and helping any user, home or enterprise, to get up-and-running on any of the 3 major desktop OSes, and it's good to see that level of choice available.

The year of the Linux desktop! Sort of seems like an OEM deal, will be interesting to see if IBM put any serious cash into actual desktop development - my bets are that they likely won't.
