Privacy breaches finally being punished

Are we reaching a tipping point on privacy? The fines are becoming more notable.

    James,
    I’m not that optimistic. The 15 mill fine was in January, and since then the number of breaches doesnt seem to have changed.

    SOX, oddly may have a +ve side-effect here. building a strong compliance function makes it much easier to police privacy too.

    It will take greater consumer and govt pressure for things to really change….

    the xanga event is new- so is the facebook fiasco. i am more hopeful than optimistic.
