Corporate Use of RSS notifications - Netflix (via brian de foy)

How about RSS to check out the status of your DVD rentals?

How cool is this? But how come brian looks so grumpy?

Netflix RSS is great, and I’ve also been using their new Netflix ‘friends’ invite driven social networking feature which is pretty cool.

I love RSS b/c it delivers on the promise of XML so well, it’s a common language that ties disparate services together in a really simple way. For example I used Netflix RSS to work with the database of the movies I already own to make sure I don’t rent movies I already own.

I wrote up how I did it on my blog: http://sourcelabs.com/ajb/archives/2004/09/lamp_check_my_n.html
