Regarding:

"More technologies to fill out spreadsheets and presentation software. Obviously, applications in Flash, Flex, and AIR will be on the top of the list."

You should check out sliderocket.com it looks like it could fit the bill. Similar look and feel, feature rich would be an understatement.

Agreed, great great write up!

Sorry, too wired on caffeine here at MAX. But one last point, then I'll stop. I promise.

Here's an example of Flash/Flex being used at web scale: http://maps.yahoo.com/ - doesn't get much bigger than that...

Oh, and on lock-in: I agree that URLs can be used as a form of lock-in, but want to point out that we went to great lengths in Share to make it NOT be a walled garden. Downloading documents is easy for both the owner and for those they share with, our REST APIs allow docs to be retrieved, and so on and so on. This was a big touchstone for me in the design, and I'm proud of what we've done - its as good a compromise between being "viral" and being open as any I've seen. But of course I'm very open to feedback on ways we could make it even more open.

I agree with James, definitely a great writeup. I love how you've really taken the time to think about what we're trying to do *and* that you seem as excited as I am about the potential.

And you are right that Share and Document Center are related - in fact the core team that developed Share was the Document Center team (with lots of help from others) and its code descends from that product. I can't comment on possible future integration of the two, of course, but I promise we have some cool stuff coming that even you didn't think of :-)

As for Buzzword on Linux, I have to issue a small correction: the supported Linux version of Buzzword is in limited test right now, not quite ready to go wide. But it is definitely in the works.

You can also expect to see a lot more integration between Buzzword and Share in the future.
