I think this is because in the past &quot;pragmatic&quot; was mostly applied to businessmen and others who didn&#039;t give a shit about anything except money; in particular they didn&#039;t care about the humanities, education, or other things considered to represent the higher aspirations of humanity.

It doesn&#039;t mean that enterprisey fucks who draw UML diagrams and never, ever produce a line of working code are high-minded deep thinkers and Ruby XP/cowboy coders are disgraceful philistines.</description>
