Michael is hit on the hit so clearly, I stumbled upon here doing research and some times the only sanity is reading what others are experiencing about their work at home experiences.

I can see from how often this is updated how busy you are. I have never worked so hard in my life and the focus on what needs to be done is beyond what I experienced at the office when your calling all the shots.

I have several blogs I work with that get updated when I have something I want to get off my chest but most times I am too busy with my clients.

Great read looking forward to seeing what else you have to say

Anne: there's the "co-working" people who've been trying to kick something off in Austin: http://coworking.pbwiki.com/CoworkingAustin

Other than that, I don't know of anything officially setup in Austin.

Did you see the Feb. 22nd BoingBoing post linking to a Businessweek article about the colocation facility concept for telecommuters to get some face-to-face time with (apparently random) other telecommuters? Here's the article link:
http://www.businessweek.com/smallbiz/content/feb2007/sb20070226_761145.htm
From the article:
"For $10 a day or $170 per month, the Hat Factory could provide him with a desk, standard office amenities, and access to a shared kitchen, private meeting room, and lounge. And something else—community spirit."
Interesting concept. Is there one already in Austin?

Loved your story I get extercise it is cold here and my big dog named dog wants out every ten minutes . I can only get him to come in by paying him bread lucky i know where the bread discount store is in my neighborhood .It is nothing for him to eat a whole loaf he is ten year old and a husky and loves cold weather I buy him soft dog food he'd body digest it better . I write and blog at home I don't know what I am doing but I occasionally sneak on a class or two at my local college to learn more. I also work part time which gets me out of the house form ten to twenty hours a week depending what my local mcdonalds store needs .

Of course, if it's cold outside, that's a whole 'nuther story ;)

And, yes, we should be out more and more. I try as much as I can down here in Austin. It's always great to be able to go on-site. I'll be at Spiceworks next week, SXSWi, BarCamp...next week will be lots of face-to-face. I'm always envious of people who live in the bay area as they have easier access to face-to-face. But, I'm not sure that alone is enough -- even combined with In-n-Out -- to pull me out of Austin.

So, if there's anyone in Austin: call me up, let's have lunch and/or coffee.

Go outside frequently. It is freakin cold here in CT. Maybe in the summer.

Shouldn't analysts be working from client sites more and meeting folks face-to-face more often rather than just the phone and blogging?
