Danno: I've used writely concurrently for RedMonk things. I agree it's awesome! Combinding together features like that, publish to the web, and something that leverages "a million eyeballs"/the labor of crowds would be where I'd start brain-storming.

Of course, the revisions and auto-saving that online word processors do it pretty nutty as well.

Also, I wonder if there's something around removing "storage" as a concern for businesses. The only concern would then be functionality (applications), networking, and security.

Cote: Have you tried using Google Docs with other users concurrently? It updates the document real-time with the other user's changes. It doesn't do this particularly slickly though (like SubEthaEdit does), so I see that as room for improvement and differentiation.

Having used an editor that does have a pretty nice multi-user editing capacity (MoonEdit), I can tell you that it is an altogether better way to author documents collaboratively. Especially if they can make GTalk provide chatrooms so you can comment on the document WHILE editing it.

Possibilities: Limitless.
