Travel: San Francisco

The other RedMonks and I will be in SF next week for the Sun Analyst conference. From the schedules, it looks like it’ll be fun. Look for scads of Sun posts from us next week ;>

This weekend is Kim’s birthday, so she’s coming out as well and we’re staying the rest of the week in the bay area (on vacation). Of special interest, I’m curious if anyone has a recommendation for where to eat on her birthday. They’ll probably be 2 other couples with us, so a place that’s nice and fun for a special event, but can seat 6 is what I’m looking for. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! 😉

  1. The SF classics are:
    Boulevard
Ozumo (if you like Japanese/expensive Sushi)
Michael Mina and Gary Danko (big $$$$)

I also like Perbacco, Chaya and Seasons. Myth is over-rated.

  2. Fleur de Lys is really amazing ate there about a year ago, but $$$.

  3. Ana Mandara down near Fisherman’s Wharf is a good place to try. It’s owned by Don Johnson. While I haven’t ever seen Tubbs dining there (my ultimate dream), it’s a nice dining experience. Afterwards, you can speed up a few flights of stairs and sample the goodness that is Ghirardelli chocolate and loosen the belt a few notches.

  4. If you're ever in the East Bay, there's an excellent, upbeat, great food (tapas) and good vibe restaurant called "A cote". It is right next to (hence name) it's sister restaurant, called Citron, in the upscalish Rockridge district of Oakland (near Berkeley).

  1. […] As Cote notes, all four RedMonkers are going to be in San Francisco next week. We’ll be attending the annual Sun Analyst conference, so it’s probably going to be a Sun heavy next week. Anyway, I’ll be out Monday morning arriving in SFO @ 10 (in theory), returning very late Wednesday evening. As always, if you’re in the area and want to meet up, drop us a line, although our schedules are mostly spoken for at this point. Not to worry if you miss us, I should be back in the area pretty shortly. […]

  2. […] On another note, thanks goes out to all the folks who suggested restaurants both in the comments and in email. While we had tons of good food at all sorts of places, the best in my book was on the last day on the way to the airport: […]
