		<description>Nice breakdown between innovation and maintenance dominated development. The conundrum for companies that survive is *how* to do both at once. That's been discussed outside the software industry for a long time. Some companies do, in fact, pull it off. GE. 3M. Boeing. Corning (before the MBAs got ahold of it and nearly killed it.) There is a fair amount of prior art from those domians that we might well borrow in software.</description>
